05 Jan 7 Reasons Why You Should Travel Alone
When I tell people I love to travel alone, they either look at me in admiration, shock, or in pity like I have no friends to go with me. But truth be told, traveling alone is one of the most incredible experiences a person can have in their life.
Let me convince you with these 7 reasons why you should travel alone:
1. You don’t have to wait on anyone.
If you’re waiting for someone else to travel with you, there’s a high chance you’re not going to go for a while, if at all. And if you’re someone like me, who has a long list of bucket list locations, the math is simple. You won’t be able to visit them all in your lifetime unless you start some adventures on your own.
2. You can travel how YOU like to.
Traveling alone means being on your own time, on your own budget, doing only what you like to do. You can see and do what you want, wake up when you want, change plans when you want, whatever! It’s your world.
3. You are more mindful & intentional in each destination when traveling alone.
Choosing how you want to spend your time involves being intentional and attentive to your own interests and needs. Also, because the trip is your own decision and there’s no one else to take the ropes, you’re also more likely be 100% present throughout your travels.
4. You meet more people.
When traveling alone, there’s more of a reason to put yourself out there compared to if you traveled with someone, and as a result you meet wayyy more people.
5. Traveling alone strengthens your relationship with yourself.
By taking a solo expedition, I’ve learned to trust myself more, feel more confident, love myself and feel proud of what I’ve accomplished.
6. You gain a ton of skills traveling alone.
You learn the arts of risk taking, adapting, problem solving, planning & coordination… the list goes on.
7. Traveling alone is a much deeper travel experience than going with someone.
It’s full of opportunity, discovery, and everything is a new adventure.
Solo travel is a form of exploration I expect to be doing at every stage of my life, and at this time is my favorite way to travel.
It may seem scary at first, but my advice is to just do it, just go. You won’t regret it.
