11 Jan 6 Most Beautiful Temples To Visit in Bangkok, Thailand
Named the most visited city in the world 4 years in a row, Bangkok sees a lot of tourists. Which is no surprise, there are tons of things to see and do here including choosing from 30,000 buddhist temples to visit!
Forget that big number though, because it’s impossible to visit them all, and trust me you would be over it. So if you’re trying to decide which temples to visit, there are 6 beautiful temples in Bangkok I recommend:
1. Wat Arun known as the Temple of the Dawn
From afar, Wat Arun may appear white, but up close the intricate details of color are astounding. Beyond visiting, it is also nice to enjoy the view of the temple from the opposite side of the river during sunset.

Close to the Grand Palace & other tourist destinations
2. Wat Benchamabophit known as The Marble Temple
Probably my favorite temple within Bangkok for it’s elegant white marble. Wat Benchamabophit is so breathtaking, and although well known, it is quieter to visit in comparison to some other temples.

Getting there
10 minute drive from the Grand Palace, reachable by bus transit or GRAB
3. Wat Phra Kaew known as Temple of the Emerald Buddha and other temples at the Grand Palace
Exploring the Grand Palace in Bangkok is a must do. Inside you will visit several bejeweled temples, the most impressive being Wat Phra Kaew. Pictures definitely do not do this royal architecture justice.

500 TBH (around $16 USD – more expensive than other temples but so worth it!)

Getting there
Walkable and close to many tourist destinations. You can also take public transport or use GRAB
4. Wat Sam Phran commonly referred to as the Dragon Temple
Although 40 km outside of the heart of Bangkok, Wat Sam Phran made the list for it’s uniqueness. The temple is 17 stories and wrapped by a massive green dragon!

Free but donations are encouraged
Location:
92 Sam Phran, Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom 73110, Thailand
Getting There:
30 minutes – 1 hour (depending on traffic) drive from the city center. GRAB would be the easiest way to get there.
5. Wat Pho known as Temple of Reclining Buddha
This popular temple is known for the unique position of Buddha and for the size. The reclining Buddha is 46 meters long and covered in gold!

2 Sanam Chai Rd, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Getting there:
Walking distance from other tourist destinations including the Grand Palace. Otherwise you can take a public bus or GRAB.
6. Wat Saket known as The Golden Mount
Not only a beautiful temple, but also a beautiful view. Besides the rooftop bars through Bangkok, Wak Saket is one of the best places to see the city skyline.
When visiting, make sure to bring plenty of water, you’ll have some stairs to climb!

Getting There:
30 min walk from Grand Palace; accessible by bus and GRAB too.
Which Temples should you visit in Bangkok?
If 6 is still too many temples to visit in Bangkok (make sure to spend some time exploring street markets too!), then I would narrow the list and choose the Grand Palace temples, the Marble Temple, and the Golden Mount for the view.
If you go to a rooftop bar though, I would substitute the Golden Mount for the Temple of Dawn.

Booking.com is the way to go when search for hotels in Thailand because they typically offer free cancellation with plenty of affordable to more luxurious stays – also for cheap!
Flights
Flights to Thailand are typically cheapest to Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. Domestic flights within Thailand can also tend to be pretty affordable especially if traveling light. To find the best deal & prices I recommend using Skyscanner.
BUSES

Travel insurance is a must for every trip to ensure you’re covered in an unexpected situations.
